Foundations and other concrete work

Our primary experience and expertise is in all concrete work, including foundations and slabs. Whether you need a foundation or driveway poured or are building a retaining wall or a concrete block structure, we will skillfully apply our knowledge to do the best job possible.

Several factors that we carefully consider are soil/location preparation, strength-promoting materials, the proper mix of the concrete and how environmental factors affect the finished product, right away and over time.

Properly prepared soil is the first determinant of well-done concrete work. The soil consistency is evaluated and will be corrected, for instance if the soil is too wet. Once the ground is prepared, the sub-base is applied and compacted to the correct standard. Next, is the choice of and amount of rebar and/or wire mesh to promote high tensile strength. And finally, the optimal mix of concrete, sand and water is determined while taking into account the weather and other environmental elements that will affect the finished product, its strength, permeability and durability.

A slightly increased amount of water may give a smoother finish and makes the workability of the concrete easier. But must be carefully regulated so as not to increase bubbles, create a shrinkage problem or cracking in the surface. Likewise, the amount of sand also affects how easy it is to work with but also can impact shrinkage and the overall strength of the poured concrete. And while considering both of these elements, weather, temperature and humidity, must also be factored in.

With our extensive experience, we will make the right decisions for our concrete job and the result will be a foundation, or block structure you can be sure is the best for your location and circumstances.
